Culverts, ditches and pasture-wash repair that move water the right way instead of tearing up your place.

In East Texas, water is what does the damage. A hard rain finds every low spot and lazy grade and cuts a gully, floods a pad, or washes out a road. Managing that water, with culverts, ditches and proper grade, is some of the most valuable dirt work there is, and it is often the difference between a property that holds up and one that keeps eroding.

Gardner Excavating installs culverts, shapes ditches and repairs erosion and pasture washes across Houston County and East Texas. After 35+ years on this ground, we know how the water moves here and how to make it go where you want it.

New drainage or fixing a wash that keeps getting worse, we build it to handle the next gully-washer.

Culvert & drainage work includes:
  • Culvert supply and installation
  • Driveway and road crossings
  • Ditching and swale shaping
  • Grade correction for drainage
  • Pasture-wash and erosion repair
  • Redirecting water away from buildings
  • Fixing recurring drainage problems

Culverts, Sized Right

A culvert is only as good as its size and its grade. Too small and it backs up and floods; set wrong and it silts in. We size culverts for the flow they will actually see and set them at the right grade so water moves through instead of around.

Driveway crossings, road crossings, and wherever a draw meets a fence line, we put the pipe where the water needs it.

Ditches & Grade

Half of drainage is just shaping the ground so water runs off clean. We cut and shape ditches, establish grade, and build swales that carry water away from your buildings, pads and roads to somewhere it can go safely.

Done right, you stop thinking about water, which is the whole point.

Pasture Washes & Erosion

When a wash starts, it only gets worse, cutting deeper every rain. We repair pasture washes and eroded areas by reshaping the ground, fixing the grade and drainage that caused it, and armoring where needed so it holds.

We fix the cause, not just the symptom, so you are not repairing the same wash every spring.

Questions About Culverts & Drainage

Can you fix a pasture wash that keeps getting bigger?

Yes, it is common work. A wash only gets worse until you fix why the water is going there. We reshape the ground, correct the grade and drainage, and armor it so it holds through the next big rain.

Do I need a culvert at my driveway?

If your drive crosses a ditch or a draw, yes. A right-sized culvert keeps water moving and keeps your driveway from washing out. We will look and size it right.

Can you keep water from flooding my pad or house?

Yes. A lot of flooding is just grade and drainage. We reshape the ground, cut ditches and set culverts so water runs away from your buildings instead of toward them.
